I see so many posts on Face Book, blogs and news-nets about frustration of illegal aliens crossing our borders and stealing our jobs. It angers me to see such posts. It shows such ignorance of the truth and enforces this Blind Patriotism that borders on nationalism, a form of arrogance that many citizens seem to have for our country.
We are great beyond words. We are the protector of the world and an example for all but we must be humble or we shall fall into ruin much like the Roman society.
We forget so quickly that we, the U.S.A. are the symbol for freedom. We are a beacon of light in the dark world of tyranny. Why wouldn't people want to come here? Yes, some do come here the wrong way but it is not they who have made the problems we have now.
It is easy to blame illegal aliens for our countries problems. Our so called leaders do it to get votes yet these same leaders are the ones that allow our jobs to go across seas. That is where our jobs are going, not to the illegal’s that could not possibly number so greatly as to account for the millions of jobs lost. It is ridiculous to think so.
If we want change in our country, we must demand in politicians common sense. There are so few of them that are truly civil servants. Most are careers politicians filled with greed and dreams of power.
It sickens me beyond belief that nothing changes except the amount of greed and arrogance shown by our leaders in office. Blame them not the simple man that was found hiding in a trunk of a car to work in a field here to feed his family. Do not blame the simple house keeper working for someone who thinks they are doing her a favor.
Let us not forget what borders our fore-fathers crossed, what laws they broke and what sacrifices they made to make our country the beacon of freedom it is. We are a light in the dark for the entire world to see. Those that uproot their entire families to come here are no different than our great grandparents. Those that break laws to get here and cross our borders are no different than they.
It is not us against them. We are the world as the song used to say. We are one people made of many. Read what it says on a plaque on the Statue of Liberty to remember what we are to the world.
The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
with conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
a mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
the air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
with conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
a mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
the air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
